AI-Powered Implementation InsightsLast Updated: October 20, 2026
Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) shows a mixed picture of Blueprint implementation. The district is strongest in Pillar 2 (High Quality & Diverse Teachers and Leaders), rated Exceeds: National Board Certification achievements rose from 21 in 2021-2022 to 145 in 2025-2026, teacher retention reached 73.3% against a 72.2% target, vacancies fell from 900.5 to 434.4, and the minimum teacher salary of $62,291 exceeds the $60,000 requirement.[1] Pillar 4 (More Resources for Students to be Successful) is rated Meets, with community schools expanding from 75 to 129 between SY21-22 and SY24-25 and districtwide chronic absenteeism edging down to 30.2%.[1]
Pillar 1 (Early Childhood Education) is rated Approaching. All half-day Pre-K classes were converted to full-day in 2023-2024, MSDE-accredited schools with Pre-K grew from 21 to 47, and private-provider enrollment rose, but total Pre-K enrollment is essentially flat at 4,315 and kindergarten readiness remains at 31% (KRA, SY23), about 11 points below the state.[1] Pillars 3 (College and Career Readiness) and 5 (Governance and Accountability) are rated Does Not Meet. In Pillar 3, grades 3-8 math proficiency is 15.4% and only 38.6% of SY2024-25 high school completers met the CCR standard.[1] In Pillar 5, only 1 of 9 programs is budgeted to meet Minimum School Funding for FY26, and school-level coding of the FY26 budget for CCR and TSI stands at 0%.[1]
Across pillars, the district has built meaningful infrastructure: a Science of Reading-based literacy plan, a revised math plan with a tiered intervention model, an AIB-approved career counseling MOU, a 19-organization behavioral health consortium, and a joint labor-management Career Ladder Development Board. The priorities now are converting these structures into measurable student outcomes, especially in math, kindergarten readiness, and chronic absenteeism, and strengthening financial coding and budgeting systems to satisfy AIB requirements.
